About Dr Caroline Bowen AM, PhD, CPSP, ASHA Fellow, Life Member SPA, Hon FRCSLT

Dr. Caroline Bowen is a retired speech-language pathologist (SLP). Her interests include evidence-based practice; child speech development and disorders; developmental language disorder; the science of reading and spelling; the role of families in SLP intervention; applications of information and communication technology in professional practice; implementation science; and the impacts of science, pseudoscience, and misinformation on clinical and education practice. She worked as a clinical SLP for 42 years, and in that time completed a doctoral degree, wrote several textbooks, produced a small body of peer reviewed, published research, and built www.speech-language-therapy.com. Since 2005, Caroline has delivered invited continuing professional development (CPD) events in 22 countries, including New Zealand, where she was born, and Australia, where she lives. She ceased clinical work in 2011 to focus on writing and to enjoy her CPD adventures.

Shaun Ziegenfusz

Shaun Ziegenfusz is a speech pathologist and researcher with more than 10 years’ experience working with people with DLD and their families. He currently works in private practice and collaboratively with schools to provide assessment and intervention pathways. Shaun is also a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidate at Griffith University where he researches the needs and necessary supports for school-aged students with DLD from the perspective of key stakeholders, as well as being a volunteer member of the Raising Awareness of Developmental Language Disorder (RADLD) International Committee. Shaun is passionate about blending clinical experience and research to support students, families, professionals and schools.
