About Joel
Joel lives in London with his wife and works as a Marketing & Digital Manager for a private healthcare company. In December 2023, at the age of 28, he was diagnosed with Developmental Language Disorder. Since then, he has been on a journey to share his story, not just with family, friends, and colleagues, but with the world. Joel is passionate about raising awareness of DLD and he is yet to meet anyone who has heard of it (unless they are a Speech & Language Therapist).
Since being diagnosed, Joel has spoken at Moor House School, a specialist school with children with DLD. He has delivered talks to both staff and students. He hopes to speak to more audiences in the future – to raise awareness, offer support to others with DLD, and help people better understand the condition.
