Get Involved

Did you know 1 in 14 children and adults around Australia struggle with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)? This communication disability can significantly impact their ability to learn, socialise, and reach their full potential.

You can make a difference!

Your contribution, big or small, will directly impact the lives of those living with DLD. There are several ways you can get involved:

  • Donate: Every dollar helps us continue our vital work. Consider a one-time gift or become a recurring donor to provide ongoing support. You can donate directly to our current research project here or donate to bring the DLD Together family support program to Australia here.
  • Fundraise: Organise an event in your community or start a personal fundraising page on Just Giving to raise awareness and funds for The DLD Project Foundation.
  • Spread the word: Help us reach more people by sharing information about DLD and The DLD Project Foundation with your friends, family, and social networks.
  • Volunteer: Have a passion for helping others and making a difference? Consider volunteering for The DLD Project Foundation! By volunteering your time and skills, you can directly support individuals with DLD and their families. Email us at hello@thedldprojectfoundation.org.au to express your interest.

Together, we can create a world where everyone has the opportunity to communicate effectively and reach their full potential. Here are some of our favourite fundraising ideas to inspire you!

host a tea for dld

Imagine a world where everyone can express themselves clearly and connect with others. By hosting a tea for The DLD Project Foundation, you can be a champion for this important cause and make a real difference in the lives of people with DLD.

Why host a morning tea?

  • Raise awareness: DLD is a common condition, yet often misunderstood. A tea is a relaxed and social way to raise awareness about DLD within your community.
  • Fun & Fundraising: Enjoy delicious food, conversation, and activities while raising vital funds for The DLD Project Foundation.
  • Bring people together: Your tea can be a fantastic opportunity to connect with friends, family, colleagues, and neighbours – all for a good cause.
  • Make a real difference: The funds raised will directly support The DLD Project Foundation’s work in delivering research, support and awareness programs for people with DLD and their families.

Here are some additional ideas to make your morning tea a success:

  • Theme it! Choose a fun theme related to communication or language to create a lively atmosphere.
  • Invite a guest speaker: Consider inviting a speech therapist, educator, or someone with DLD to share their experiences.
  • Organise activities: Plan some engaging activities like trivia or games to keep your guests entertained.
  • Spread the word: Promote your event through social media, local community groups, and flyers.

By hosting a Tea for DLD, you can create a positive and impactful experience for everyone involved. You’ll be raising awareness, having fun, and most importantly, making a significant contribution to supporting individuals with DLD.
