Language Development Centres
Western Australia offers specialist early intervention programs for children in the early years of schooling who have a speech and language impairment, including DLD. The Statewide Speech and Language Service provides support, including an outreach service to help schools more effectively meet the needs of students with speech and language difficulties.
Language development centres (LDCs) provide specialised language support for students with a primary diagnosis of a developmental language disorder. LDCs support students from Kindergarten to Year 2, offering small class sizes and a multi-disciplinary team.
Language Development Centre (LDC) Parent Community Group - Perth, WA
Led by the West Coast Language Development Centre Parent Board members, all past, current, and future parents/caregivers of the 5 LDCs (17 sites) in the Perth metropolitan area are invited to join an LDC Parent Community where we can ask questions, share stories, make friends, set up playdates and connect with other parents who truly get it, as we navigate the highs and lows of parenting children on their DLD communication journey.
