The countdown is on! Developmental Language Disorder Awareness Day will be held on Friday 18 October 2024!
On average 2 students in every class of 30 have a neurodevelopmental condition called Developmental Language Disorder or DLD.

Raising Awareness of Developmental Language Disorder (RADLD) is an international volunteer-driven organisation working to increase awareness of DLD, a hidden, but common condition affecting 1in 14 people. The DLD Project Co-Founders are proud to be members of the RADLD international committee.
What is Developmental Language Disorder Day #DLDday?
Developmental Language Disorder Awareness Day, now in its fifth year, is celebrated annually around the world with more than 40 countries involved in 2023.
Families, teachers, therapists and the community come together to ensure people with DLD no longer feel invisible.
– In 2020, DLD awareness videos posted on the RADLD Youtube channel were viewed 36,400 times.
– 83 buildings and monuments around the world lit up in purple & yellow for DLD.
– DLD research fact memes were viewed 1.2 million times!
How can i support dld awareness day?
Increased awareness of DLD can reduce social stigmatisation and improve access to specialist and support services. Supporting DLD Awareness Day can be as simple as taking the following actions.

Organise for a Landmark to light up
Light up events involve key landmarks in a town or city, which are regularly lit up in different colours for special occasions. If you know of a landmark that does light up for causes, please consider submitting an application and keep us in the loop! We can’t wait to see the world light up in purple and yellow, the official DLD Awareness Day colours.
